WETA TV 26 Schedule - 01/09/2009


WETA TV 26 is the flagship PBS channel in the Washington metropolitan area. Starting February 1, 2009, TV 26 will offer primetime programs throughout the day, except for a three-hour WETA Kids block each morning.

Curious George

The misadventures of the inquisitive monkey and the man with the yellow hat. Each episode includes two animated features, followed by a live-action sequence with kids exploring the issues in the stories, including topics in math, science and engineering.

Based on the best-selling Curious George books by Margret and H.A. Rey, and narrated by Emmy-winning actor William H. Macy, the series aims to inspire kids to explore science, math, and engineering in the world around them.

Sid the Science Kid

A Jim Henson Company production about an inquisitive preschooler named Sid who seeks answers to questions he asks himself, such as why his shoes are shrinking or why bananas become mushy.

Super WHY!

Animated adventures of four fairy-tale characters who enter storybooks to solve everyday problems.

Hip Hip Hooray!  Super Readers Save the Day! - It's the Super Readers to the rescue in Super WHY! Super WHY! features the literacy-powered adventures of Super Why, along with his best friends Alpha Pig, Wonder Red and Princess Presto.  The standout, imagination-stimulating series is the only superhero property that helps preschoolers learn to read through interactive fairytale adventures.

Clifford the Big Red Dog

Children's writer Norman Bridwell's huge crimson canine and his human and animal friends come to animated life on happily diverse Birdwell Island, where good times and good friendships are always the order of the day.

Preschoolers are among those who made this 6-foot purple dinosaur a beloved character (and toy icon). Barney helped the youngsters learn songs and ways to get along.

Barney, the lovable purple dinosaur and his young friends share adventures featuring songs, dances and games that make learning fun for children. Barney and his dino-pals, Baby Bop and BJ, are joined by a cast of children.

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

The genial, soft-spoken man made every day `special' and every kid welcome in this long-running series. Once described as `a singing psychiatrist for children,' Rogers used puppetry, songs and storytelling to teach youngsters about family values.

A long-running series that tries to instill the joy of reading in children (the target age is 4-8). It has succeeded, as its Peabody and numerous Emmys and Parent's Choice awards attest.

The Emmy Award-winning READING RAINBOW takes young viewers on adventures that stimulate their interest in reading for pleasure and entertainment.

Raggs

A live-action children's program about five dogs and a cat who play rock music and learn lessons about music, science and literacy.

Raggs features five colorful canines — Raggs, Trilby, Pido, B. Max and Razzles — who play in a rock 'n' roll band and live together in a clubhouse.
